Fireman presentation axe

I was asked to organise an axe for a fireman’s retirement presentation. I managed to find two and got both silver plated and mounted on some oakwood. This is the one we didn’t use.

It’s all ready to use or display, just needs the recipient’s details on a plaque for attachment on the wood.

I believe it to be a Gilpin 950 fireman’s axe. This is based on the close-up photo. the crow foot mark can be easily seen to show 50 with a polished 9 in front and with some faded marking above which I believe to be Gilpin. I don’t know any of its history apart from the source was ex-fire brigade.

Hope it gives as much joy when received.
