This 2026-W Enduring Liberty Half Dollar was pulled from a bank roll. It carries the West Point 9-11-01 “ALWAYS REMEMBER” privy mark, struck to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11. Collectors couldn’t buy it from the U.S. Mint. All 250,000 were sent to the Federal Reserve and released at random to banks, so finding one in a roll is the only source. This one came from exactly that kind of search.
Grade: Our grade estimate is Brilliant Uncirculated. This coin was graded in-house and is not certified. It came directly from a bank roll and was never in circulation. The obverse is notably clean, with even mint luster and Liberty’s cheek and the open fields largely free of marks. The reverse has a full strike on the torch and flame, with light scattered ticks in the fields from bagging and rolling. Please see the photos, which are part of the description.
Historical context: West Point is a fitting mint for this privy. It sits 50 miles up the Hudson from Lower Manhattan. A separate run of 2,983 West Point pieces, one for each name on the National 9/11 Memorial, was presented to the Memorial & Museum on August 21, 2026. The 250,000 coins for circulation followed on September 14, just after the 25th anniversary.
Series info: The Enduring Liberty half is the first new half dollar design in more than 60 years and the first Liberty half since the Walking Liberty ended in 1947. It was authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 for the Semiquincentennial and is used only for 2026. Kennedy returns in 2027. The reverse quotes James Madison’s 1822 letter on public education.
