Vintage 1950s Bing & Grondahl Hazelnut Hasselnod coffee set Danish porcelain.
A pretty mid-century coffee set in Bing & Grøndahl's Hazelnut pattern, known in Denmark as Hasselnød. Sprays of soft sepia-brown hazel leaves are hung with little gold hazelnuts, with tiny gold nut sprigs scattered over every piece, a warm sand-coloured band and fine gold lines around the rims and handles.
The set includes a coffee pot with lid, a cream jug, a two-handled lidded sugar bowl, four coffee cups and six saucers (two spares). These are B&G's classic shapes, the same pot, jug, sugar bowl and cup forms used for their famous Seagull service. Each piece carries the green three-towers "B&G Kjøbenhavn" mark.
Country of origin: Denmark. Age: c.1950s.
Bing & Grøndahl was founded in 1853, and in 1895 it made the world's very first Christmas plate, starting a tradition collectors still follow today.
Good vintage condition with just minor wear, no chips or cracks, and a little light grey marking to the unglazed foot rims from years of use.
A beautiful bit of Scandi mid-century style for a grandmillennial or modern vintage table.
