Description & Comments

Offered here is a 1976-S Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollar graded PR70DCAM by PCGS, a Perfect Proof with bold Deep Cameo contrast, housed in a PCGS standard blue label holder. This is the copper-nickel clad proof, as noted on the label.

PR70 is the top of the scale, and PCGS has graded 466 of these at PR70DCAM with none higher, so this coin is tied for the finest PCGS has certified. The Bicentennial halves were struck in 1975 and 1976 with the special 1776-1976 dual date and Seth G. Huntington's Independence Hall reverse, as part of America's first modern circulating commemoratives. The San Francisco Mint struck 7,059,099 clad proofs for collectors.

Kennedy's portrait is heavily frosted, with crisp detail in the hair, and it stands out sharply against deep, black mirrored fields. LIBERTY, the motto, the dual date and the S mint mark are all bold. On the reverse Independence Hall's tower, clock and windows are frosted and crisply detailed over the same glassy mirrors. It is a strong fit for a Kennedy proof set, a Bicentennial collection or a PCGS registry set.

We do our best to accurately represent the true look of the coin with carefully produced photos. As eBay sellers, we want to be sure there is no mystery with coin you are buying!!!
