Antique & Vintage Photographs

This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 6½ x 4¾ inches (166x121mm).

It shows an elevated view of Singapore city, looking over the Singapore River towards a skyline of modern high-rise buildings. In the foreground are warehouses with corrugated roofs, one of which is clearly marked "HARPER GILFILLAN (S) PTE LTD".

Several small boats are moored along the river bank. The scene contrasts the older, low-rise industrial and commercial buildings by the river with the soaring office and apartment blocks that dominate the background.

There is also a copyright stamp for "CAMERA PRESS LTD. RUSSELL COURT, CORAM STREET, LONDON, W.C.1." and a faint purple stamp that appears to be from The Times newspaper library. A handwritten notation at the bottom reads "TOP - SINGAPORE".
