Offered here is a lot of six (6) original early 20th century photographic negatives believed to depict scenes from the Panama Canal region, circa 1910–1920.
Each negative measures approximately 2½" x 3" (please confirm exact dimensions). The images show maritime and dockside activity including steam vessels, cargo ships, canal structures, and workers loading goods along a tropical shoreline. The composition and subject matter have a strong early documentary quality consistent with the period.
The positive images shown in this listing were created by digitally inverting the negatives for reference only. Actual print results will vary depending on the buyer’s darkroom technique, scanning method, or digital processing. Some glare visible in the photos is from cell phone lighting and does not appear on the negatives themselves.
These are original period negatives, not modern reproductions. Early documentary maritime negatives of this era are increasingly difficult to find, particularly in cohesive subject groupings.
