This 30-pound gun originates from the English one of the same name built almost a century earlier. The screw sight, the reinforced breech and the carriage sliding on a rail made the weapon more efficient. The piece was part of the armament of first and second rank vessels, such as the "Toulonnaise", "La Belle Poule" and the "Valmy".
