Vintage Japanese Iga Ware Celadon Green Ceramic Noodle Soup Bowl Cherry Blossoms
This exception Japanese studio art pottery bowl showcases the timelines elegance of modern Iga-Yaki (Iga Ware). Finished in a serene, semi-translucent pale celadon green glaze, the bowl features a striking balance of smooth porcelain-smooth glaze and highly tactile decoration. Both the exterior and interior are beautifully adorned with hand-painted clusters of white cherry blossoms (sakura) layered over textured, sponge-appllied green circular medallions.
The glaze exhibits a beautiful subtle depth with natural mottling, soft cloudy variations, and gentle underglaze pooling near the lower body - intentional characteristics of hand-dipped studio firings that give the piece unique individual character. The rim is expertly
finished with a crisp, dark iron-oxide border—a traditional framing technique
that adds sophisticated structure to the clean form. The underside features a
deeply recessed foot ring and bears the hand-painted, underglaze cobalt blue kanji
characters for Iga Ware (伊賀焼).
A remarkable clean, high-quality showcase piece that bridges traditional regional craftsmanship with a sophisticated, timeless aesthetic.
