For bid is an original 1927 portrait of UGA Bulldogs football legend Captain Ivey Merwin "Chick" Shaver holding the football as though he is about to punt it.. He's standing on the turf at old Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia. Wonderful, vintage 1920's type one photograph produced for publicity purposes by the University of Georgia. This was the year of the 1927 9-1 record "Dream & Wonder Team."
Photo is missing the upper right corner. Otherwise, it's in very good, used condition. Writing on the back identifying Shaver who later had a baseball career, including playing in MLB baseball.
Photo is just under 10 inches tall.
