ROXUS – NIGHTSTREET
Hard-to-find 1992 U.S. Savage Records CD issue – 74785-50203-2 of the only full-length studio album from Australian melodic hard rock band Roxus.
Originally released in Australia in 1991, Nightstreet became a substantial success there, reaching No. 5 on the Australian album chart. The power ballad “Where Are You Now?” reached No. 13 and was certified Gold, while “Bad Boys” also charted.
For fans of late-'80s/early-'90s melodic hard rock, this is one of those albums that developed a following well beyond the band's relatively short career. The sound falls squarely into the AOR / melodic hard rock / glam-metal world, with big hooks, polished production, keyboards and power ballads. Contemporary Australian rock historian Ian McFarlane described the album as combining Warrant/Bryan Adams-style melodic hard rock with lush power ballads.
The album was produced by Mark Opitz, whose Australian rock production résumé included major acts such as AC/DC, INXS and Cold Chisel.
Lineup: Juno Roxas – lead vocals • Dragan Stanic – guitar/backing vocals • John Stones Nixon – bass/backing vocals • Darren Danielson – drums • Andy Shanahan – keyboards.
10 tracks: Rock N' Roll Nights • My Way • Bad Boys • Midnight Love • Where Are You Now? • Nightstreet • This Time • First Break of the Heart • Stand Back • Jimi G.
