V-J Day was actually September 2, 1945, (I know this because my husband and I went to the WW II Museum in New Orleans on that day just a few weeks ago).
But these newspapers are announcing Japan's agreement to officially surrender after the August 6 bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
