This brooch is signed and was made in the early 1940s and advertised as part of the "Army & Navy Forever" pieces sold in fine department stores at the time for patriotic shoppers. Each sailor figure is encrusted with clear pavé rhinestones and they have faux pearl heads. The brooch is signed "MB" with the Phrygian cap, an early Boucher mark, this pin brooch is rhodium plated with rhinestones. Illustrated in Brunialti "American Costume Jewelry" Vol 2 page 241.
