This original several hundred-year-old George Washington Mourning Button was found metal detecting by myself at an old Farm House in upstate New York. Though it is worn you can see the Urn in the center of the button and the arrow type designs surrounding it. It measures 35 mm across. To get a better idea you can check out the Harold Cobb collection of George Washington Inaugural Buttons which can be found online. This is a dug button. It is a copper type alloy. As you can see it is folded over and does have dents as well. I have not tried to straighten it out. I'll leave that to the experts from what I read it is possible by an annealing process. Please let photos assist description and feel free to ask any questions. I will also be listing an original Washington Inaugural Button WI 8 Plain Roman variety soon.
