Original group of early 1920s black-and-white travel snapshots and photographic ephemera, found together and believed to document a Western U.S. trip.

One of the photographs is handwritten on the reverse “Petrified Forest, Aug-22,” dating the group to approximately August 1922. The standout image shows three people posed in the Petrified Forest landscape with large pieces of petrified wood.

Also included are several scenic photographs showing rushing river/water scenery, mountain and rock formations, and a crudely assembled two-part panoramic landscape photograph. One postcard-format photograph has a handwritten identification reading “Spottle Gate Rock” followed by a note stating that the picture shows only the “Saddle” and that another image showing the gate would be sent later.

The group also includes a piece of period paper ephemera marked General Merchandise, Wallace, Idaho.
