For sale: a rare, handmade vintage Dave Guardala tenor saxophone mouthpiece—the Michael Brecker Model 1. Despite its age, the mouthpiece is in excellent original condition, as shown in the photos. This piece comes from my personal collection of handmade vintage Guardala mouthpieces, which I have been assembling for years! It features a three-digit serial number. This is one of the very first mouthpieces Dave crafted by hand specifically for Michael Brecker. Please do not confuse this with modern Guardala mouthpieces or the "laser-technology" versions produced on CNC machines; the original mouthpieces were made exclusively by Dave by hand—without CNC machinery—so each early mouthpiece has a unique sound. Since it is impossible to replicate every mouthpiece exactly by hand, early Guardala vary in configuration and shape, and consequently in sound. This mouthpiece definitely delivers that signature Brecker sound and is an outstanding instrument! It is the best mouthpiece I have ever played. It offers a magnificent low register and a stunning altissimo sound. Simply incredible! You can judge the condition from the photos. The serial number is somewhat hard to see. Good luck with the auction! Please feel free to ask questions.
