HexDrone, 6-Voice Drone Synth.  Hypnotic, other-worldly, trance-like sounds.

This drone powerhouse has six oscillator voices, and provides four different waveforms: sine, square, sawtooth and triangle.  The rich harmonics of square and sawtooth waves are ideal for further processing, e.g. via filters, whilst the mellow tones of triangle and sine have a special purer quality that is particularly mesmerising in a drone.

The HexDrone has the following features:

• Six oscillator voices, each with its own activation switch, and variable frequency control
  
  
• Four different output waveforms: sine, square, sawtooth and triangle
  
  
• Optional Auto-Fade feature, which merges voices with one another at different rates (adjustable)
  
  
• Master volume control

When the Auto-Fade control is at zero, all active voices are at the same volume as one another, although the master volume is still adjustable via the front panel control.  However, when the novel Auto-Fade is turned clockwise, the voices subtly mix and intermingle with one another, at different rates, creating additional dynamics and movement to the drone sound.  The Auto-Fade control allows the overall rate to be altered from slow through to fast.

It is capable of being deliberately discordant if you want it to be, or you can just drift on a hypnotic, shimmering, ethereal cloud of sound.

The following demo was recorded via a mobile phone.  Although the phone's audio quality is not ideal, it still gives a good flavour of the HexDrone's sound.  No other processing or effects were added for this recording, though this can add a whole extra dimension to the range of sounds available.  Although the case and styling on the HexDrone in the video is somewhat different, the controls and functions are exactly the same as the one listed here.

The device requires a 9 to 12 V DC power supply, although if necessary you can power it from a 9V battery, using a battery-to-DC-plug adapter, which are also cheap and readily available.  Output from the HexDrone is via a standard quarter-inch (6.5mm) 'guitar' jack socket.  

This is a unique, hand-crafted drone synth, which can add a truly original flavour to your sound creations.
