It shows a man, identified as L. Fishlock of Surrey, in mid-air as he dives into a swimming pool on the deck of a ship. The scene is described as a diving display for passengers aboard the Orient liner Orion during a voyage to Australia.

Flinchlock is wearing a dark, one-piece swimsuit. Several other passengers, both men and women, are seated on benches around the pool, watching the display. The background shows the superstructure of the ship, including upper decks, railings, and machinery.

The reverse has a typed paper caption which reads: "TEST TEAM BOUND FOR AUSTRALIA. A diving display for passengers in the Orient liner Orion by L.Flinchlock (Surrey) during the team's voyage to Australia." Below this is a photographer's stamp, partly faint, which includes the name "CHARLES E. BROWN" and an address on "SHOE LANE. .
