Player Notes: there is bat control, sure, most MLB Players can control their bat in large part. Then there was Ichiro, who used his bat like a magic wand. He could intentionally foul off pitches until he got the pitch he wanted, and he could do it indefinitely. He could find a hole in the defense and put the ball there more accurately than if someone threw it or rolled it. the results? 10x All Star… MVP… 3000 hits… 3 silver sluggers…. On the basepaths, he was a menace, retiring with 509 stolen bases (35th all time). And he would use his speed on defense to find a way to field the uncatchable… he won 10 Gold Gloves as a result. Truly amazing to watch. The crazy thing is that before joining MLB, he played for 9 season in Japan. If his Japanese stats were included in his MLB numbers, he would have the all-time hits record with 4,367. Amazing. Now finally, in 2025, he had his career remembered and his name permanently enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
