I expected the exposed stone to have some dings and scratches up on top, but it is remarkably nearly free of any damage or wear, even at the edges of the facets. It sits in the setting a little loosely, and on the gem's bottom, not visible while wearing, there are some scratches and wear on some of those facets. Regarding the silver ring itself, I find a little flattening on the 4 silver prongs around the stone, and general scratches and wear to most of the exposed surfaces of the band, but it still looks great.
