Please take the time to read through my entire item description and view all the photographs.  I consistently prepare accurate and detailed descriptions and provide clear close up photographs for all my listings.  The aforementioned notwithstanding, note the photos are still the biggest and most important part of this or any description.  As the old saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words".  If you would like additional photos or have specific questions just message me and I will respond ASAP.

For your consideration is what I have been advised are carbon arc rods for a large searchlight in the original rolled steel cylinder.  The lot consists of (27) twenty-seven total assorted LARGE size carbon rods ranging in length from approximately 18.0” to 10.50” long.  The steel canister with the 27 rods all together weigh approximately 8.0 pounds by itself.

Because I do not possess the specific history and/or definitive knowledge about these carbon rods and their intended use, and in recognition of my limited knowledge regarding these unique pieces, I decided to offer the entire lot at what I believe to be a very reasonable opening bid based upon my research of other similar carbon rods being sold on eBay.

ATTENTION

These rods were uncovered inside my late father-in-law’s barn.  As a matter of full disclosure, admittedly I have no knowledge about and/or experience with these carbon rods or their origin and use.  I can only assume the information I provided with is accurate.  To that end, I apologize if what I describe is found to be in error and if so, please let me know ASAP and I will revise the listing accordingly as I make every effort to avoid knowingly misrepresenting any items I list.

As can be confirmed in the description photos, all the rods come inside the original tin canister as depicted in description photos #7, #8, #9 and #10.  The noted canister contains a total of 27 rods that are itemized below according to length size.  Each rod has an approximate diameter of 11.52 mm or 7/16”.  All the rods appear to be undamaged and in good overall original condition.  That being said; note, a few of the shorter rods appear to have been partially used.  Refer to description photos #11, #12, #13, #14, #15, #16, #17, #18, #19 and #20 to confirm the different lengths and overall condition of all (27) twenty-seven carbon rods included in this lot.

18.0”   long – 21 rods

15.0”   long –   2 rods

14.0”   long –   1 rod

13.50” long –   1 rod

10.50” long –   2 rods

              Total 27 rods

The original steel canister remains in overall good condition with scattered surface blemishes consistent with honest age.  Unfortunately, all the manufacturer’s paper labels have long since been worn off.  The overall measurements of the steel canister are approximately 22.50” long and 4.0” in diameter.  Refer to description photos #21, #22 and #23 to confirm the size dimensions of and more details about the canister I describe.

ATTENTION

Note; In an effort to avoid the rods from being damaged during shipment, I removed them from the canister and carefully rolled them inside brown butcher paper before sliding them back snugly inside the canister along with adding the original saw dust filler.  The aforementioned preventative measures safely secured all 27 rods and prevents them from being loose and able to freely move around inside the canister during shipment.

Overall, this lot of 27 carbon rods, and the original steel canister, remain in good condition.  These rods appear to remain usable or suitable for static display amongst your searchlight memorabilia and other militaria collectibles.

Please look at the description photographs closely as they accurately depict and confirm the condition of the carbon rods and canister I describe and show exactly what you will receive if you purchase these pieces.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the rods or canister please email me and I will respond ASAP.

The canister containing all 27 carbon rods will ship from Texas zip code 77362 via USPS Ground Advantage safely secured inside a 27.0" x 7.0" x 7.0" cardboard box weighing between approximately 9.0 and 10.0 pounds after packaging.  Buyer pays true shipping cost, if you would like to estimate shipping to your home zip code you can enter the aforementioned shipping information into the USPS postal calculator program.
