ANGLESEY VIOLINS
This viola is set up and ready to play. It is brand new, with new strings etc. The cae and bow are incuded in the sale. (The bow is not the best quality but it will 'do the job' until the buyer gets a better one. The case is a standard black modern lightweight one.
The viola has a 15 inch back so it is fullsize, but not as big as some fullsize violas are. (So suitable for a teenager or an adult with smallish hands and arms.)
It appears never to have been used. Certainly no damage and no blemishes to the varnish. Probably made in China and similar in quality to Antoni instruments.
Playing qualities. The viola is set up, ready to play without further adjustment. I have played the viola briefly to check the set-up and to assess the sound. It plays nicely. I adjusted the bridge to ensure that the curvature is correct. (Many cheaper violins and violas have bridges which make playing difficult.) Suitable for a beginner up to around the grade 5 standard? And great for a violin player who wants to try out the larger instrument.
Scroll and pegbox. Carved quite simply, but adequate. The pegs all adjust correctly.
Neck and fingerboard. Both smooth. No grooving to the fingerboard. (it hasn't been played so there wouldn't be!)
Strings. I have fitted a new set of strings.
Bridge. I kept the original bridge but adjusted the curve.
Tailpiece and chinrest. The tailpiece has four fine tuners. The chinrest is a standard modern one.
Front of body. Made from plain timber.
Ribs and back. Also made from plain timber.
Condition and appearance. The viola has no damage and no repairs. The varnish is unmarked.
Fast despatch. I can usually get items in the post on the day after receiving payment.

About me: I took early retirement from teaching twelve years ago in order to establish my violin repair and restoration business. It had been my hobby for many years before that.
