Georgian Naive Folk Art Bay Racehorse & Jockey Watercolour + Maple Frame c.1820
This is a charming early 19th-century British naive sporting watercolour, depicting a bay racehorse with jockey.
Dating to circa 1820–1840, the picture has a wonderfully direct folk-art quality typical of provincial Georgian sporting art.
Presented in a very attractive 19th-century figured maple frame with gilt slip, which complements the picture particularly well.
CONDITION Some age-related toning, surface wear and minor losses. The frame has losses to the top left & right corners, not particularly noticeable from the front, but visible from above - as per images
The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
