A rare, early example of film/movie merchandising. Two pieces of Hammersley & Co nursery china, made in England c.1939.

They were issued in connection with the Fleischer Studios feature length animated ‘Gulliver's Travels’ which was released in 1939 by Paramount Pictures
It was the second full-length animated fantasy film ever made (following Disney’s 'Snow White'), produced by Max Fleischer and directed by Dave Fleischer for Fleischer Studios.

The film was based in the 1726 Gulliver's Travels satirical novel by Anglo-Irish writer Jonathan Swift, that follows Lemuel Gulliver on four fantastical voyages.

The china nursery cup features ‘Princess Glory & Prince David’. The china saucer features ‘King Little and King Bonbo’ - all characters from the 1939 animated film ‘Gulliver's Travels’
