Product Description
The Nano Light Star Tracker is a compact, open‑source‑based equatorial platform engineered for astrophotographers and time‑lapse creators. Now bundled with a dedicated latitude wedge, it offers effortless polar elevation adjustment – turning rough alignment into precise polar setup in seconds. Driven by a dual‑core ESP32S, it supports sidereal, lunar, and fully customizable tracking rates, with northern/southern hemisphere switching. Use it as a precision star tracker for Milky Way wide‑fields, or as a motorized panning head for cinematic time‑lapses – all powered by a standard USB‑C power bank.
Integrated Latitude Wedge (Included)
Adjustable elevation range: 0° ~ 60° (covers most global latitudes).
Machined aluminum construction with a smooth friction lock – holds your set angle firmly.
Mounts directly onto your tripod via the built‑in 3/8″‑16 socket; the tracker sits on top with its Arca‑Swiss dovetail.
Enables quick polar alignment without extra tools – a game‑changer for mobile shooting.
Dual Control Modes
Rotary encoder knob – change speeds and start/stop on the fly, no external device required.
Integrated WiFi hotspot + web‑based UI – connect from any smartphone, tablet, or laptop via browser; no app installation – works with iOS, Android, Windows, macOS.
Proven Tracking Performance (with rough laser‑pointer alignment using the wedge)
| Lens Focal Length | Max Exposure (no star trails) |
|---|---|
| 24 mm | 5 minutes |
| 70 mm | 4 minutes |
| 200 mm | 1 minute |
| 450 mm | 30 seconds |
| With precise polar alignment (e.g., using a polar scope or alignment app), achievable exposure times are significantly longer. |
Heavy‑Duty Mechanical Core
3000:1 precision gear train – smooth, backlash‑minimized motion.
Upgraded 8 mm stainless steel output shaft with dual‑screw internal locking – holds reverse loads without loosening.
Maximum payload 4 kg (8.8 lbs) – easily carries a DSLR/mirrorless body with a telephoto lens.
Top mounting thread: standard 3/8″‑16 – directly attaches to most ball heads, no adapter needed.
Convenient Power & Mounting
USB‑C input – powered by any standard 5V power bank (≥1A).
No internal battery – safe for airline carry‑on or checked luggage.
Integrated 38 mm Arca‑Swiss dovetail on the tracker base – fits directly onto any Arca‑compatible clamp (including the top of the supplied wedge).

Motorized panning for cinematic time‑lapse (custom constant rotation)
Solar / lunar tracking with safe filters
Lightweight travel rigs – backpacker and airline friendly
Tracking accuracy is highly dependent on polar alignment. Wind, tripod stability, and improper polar alignment will cause trailing. The exposure table above is a reference obtained with a rough laser‑pointer alignment; using the included latitude wedge and a proper polar scope/app will yield far better results.
All internal screws are secured with thread‑locker. Any disassembly by the user will void the warranty and likely damage the unit. Do not attempt to open the housing – contact us for any service needs.
No battery is included. You must supply your own USB‑C power bank (5V/1A minimum).
Polar alignment tools (polar scope, app, etc.) are not supplied. We recommend using a dedicated polar scope or a mobile app (e.g., Polar Scope Align, PS Align Pro) for best performance.
Shipping & transportation: Since there is no internal battery, this tracker can be shipped worldwide without restrictions.
1Ă— Nano Light Star Tracker main unit
1× Adjustable Latitude Wedge (aluminum, 0–60°)
Power bank, tripod, ball head, and polar scope are NOT included.
Attach the latitude wedge to your tripod, then mount the tracker onto the wedge via the Arca‑Swiss clamp (or directly with the 3/8″ screw if preferred).
Adjust the wedge elevation to match your local latitude.
Connect a power bank to the tracker’s USB‑C port.
Wait ~30 seconds for the WiFi hotspot to appear (SSID: NanoLight_xxxx).
Connect your device to that network, then open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.
Use the web panel to set rate, hemisphere, and start tracking.
For time‑lapse panning, select “Custom Speed” and enter any rotation rate (e.g., 0.1° – 10°/sec) – the tracker then acts as a constant‑speed pan head.
We offer a 30‑day limited warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of receipt.
Damage caused by disassembly, water, drops, or misuse (including severe polar misalignment that stalls the motor) is not covered.
For any questions or troubleshooting, please contact us – we respond within 24 hours (Pacific Time).
Open‑source derived – proven firmware, community‑supported.
No proprietary apps – works with any WiFi‑enabled device.
Travel‑ready – fits in a jacket pocket, weighs under 1.2 lbs with the wedge.
Serious performance – 4 kg payload and 3000:1 gearing for smooth, accurate tracking that rivals much larger mounts.
Included latitude wedge – eliminates the hassle of separate purchases and ensures you can set up accurately anywhere in the world.
