L’Apartment by Bill Philip

A wonderful little piece of architectural photography with a documented artist, title and fine-art publisher.

L’Apartment by photographer Bill Philip captures the repeating windows, ornate balconies and beautiful architectural details of an elegant European apartment facade. Photographed in black and white, the symmetry and texture of the building become the focus, creating an image that feels both sophisticated and timeless.

The Bill Philip signature/name is printed at the lower right of the image, and the original publisher information is visible along the edge of the print beneath the mat:

Felix Rosenstiel’s Widow & Son is a long-established British fine-art publisher, making the surviving publisher information a particularly nice feature of this piece.

Presentation & Size

The print is currently unframed and matted, with a subtle gold-tone accent surrounding the image opening.

Its smaller size makes it incredibly easy to decorate with. I can imagine it mixed into a collected gallery wall, sitting on a bookshelf or desk, hanging in a study or office, or paired with other black-and-white architectural and travel photography.

For someone who loves European architecture and the character of old apartment buildings—the balconies, windows and details that make you wonder about all the lives and stories behind them—this is such a charming little piece.

Condition

Preowned condition.

The photograph itself presents nicely. The mat shows visible signs of previous display and handling, including edge/corner wear, rubbing and areas of surface soiling/discoloration. Please review all listing photographs closely, including the detailed photographs of the mat, as they are an important part of the condition description.

The mat could certainly continue to be used as-is, or the buyer could have the photograph rematted to suit their own decor.

Please Note

The Bill Philip signature/name appears to be printed as part of the published artwork and is not represented as a hand-signed autograph.

The piece is also not being represented as a limited edition or giclée, as I have not found information on the piece itself confirming either designation.

The photograph will be carefully protected and shipped flat to help protect both the print and mat during transit.
