This is 1 of a number of antiques and collectables that once belonged to a lady from North Yorkshire. She is now deceased and it was only when I bought a number of lots from a live auction I realised it was someone I had once visited to see their collections. I met her many moons ago when she walked into my antique shop, where she bought a few things from me. In the lots of items I bought I did find a couple of things that I had previously sold her, so that was nice. I went for a coffee one day and was amazed at seeing her vast collections all around the house, I soon found out she was a keen metal detectorist too as well as into archaeology. Fossil hunting, rocks and minerals, finding items in the ground, it all runs through a similar theme. She was worldly travelled with artefacts from the Middle East and Africa too. Most of the Roman items have Catterick & Aldborough place names on the coins and artefacts. I have been sorting and listing just a small selection of items from her vast collecting themes and will be listing for a few weeks yet. I have grouped some Roman pottery pieces but many are singular complete items. I am not too familiar with the rock types so apologies if I have had made any mistakes.
All are my ref. code #CL
