via RAF Akrotiri to collect Terry Waite on his release as a hostage. From
Damascus was flown to RAF Akrotiri for refuelling prior to completing Terry Waite's
return to the United Kingdom at Royal Air Force Lyneham

His "Homecoming" Was On The 7th - 8th August 1991
He was a journalist, writer and broadcaster who worked for the BBC and has written several books. He became a household name in the 1980s when, on his first foreign assignment in the Lebanon, he was kidnapped and held captive for just over 5 years. This was, as he put it, “my curious claim to fame”.
He spent some of his time in captivity in isolation, and some with fellow hostage, Brian Keenan. ~~~~~~~~
