This MM cartridge uses a power generation method developed exclusively by DENON.
The vibration system replaces the DL-103's cross-shaped armature, wrapped around its power generation coil, with a disk-shaped magnet, and the magnet replaces the 6-pole yoke (core) and coil.
The magnetic circuit has an E-shaped structure, with two sets of magnets arranged at a 90° angle for the left and right channels, maintaining a fixed distance around the disk magnet. This magnetic circuit structure is unique to DENON and differs from conventional MM cartridges, improving high-frequency characteristics and enabling record playback with excellent linearity.
DENON's unique double-structure cantilever structure simultaneously achieves both rigidity and a lightweight equivalent mass.
This suppresses sagging mid- and high-frequency characteristics due to split vibrations, improving high-frequency characteristics.
The disk-shaped magnet uses an anisotropic, lightweight ferrite magnet with strong coercive force, reducing the overall vibration system and increasing output.
When a disk-shaped magnet is magnetized in the thickness direction and has a fulcrum on the extension of the central pole of the E-shaped core, and moves around the fulcrum, the dashed magnetic field lines change differentially with respect to the solid magnetic field lines in the diagram, and a magnetic flux is generated in the central pole that is the sum of the opposite-phase magnetic field lines from both magnetic field lines, inducing a voltage in the coil.
If the fulcrum of this magnet is accurate, even if the stylus tip sinks due to stylus pressure and the magnet tilts slightly, the push-pull method will make the top and bottom of the waveform symmetrical, resulting in reproduced sound with little distortion.
