This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is approximately 10 x 8 inches (254x203mm).

It shows a full-length portrait of a woman identified as Mrs Betty Spink of Halifax, winner of the 'British Venus' title. She is pictured posing in a one-piece swimsuit and high-heeled wedge shoes, with flowers in her hair, at the side of a swimming pool in Morecambe. The photograph was taken at the National Bathing Beauty Contest in 1947. Spectators are visible on a terrace in the background. The reverse has a typed caption, handwritten notes, and a copyright stamp for the Sunday Dispatch, Manchester.
