Royal Niger Company Spink & Son Nigeria 1886-1897 
Silver Medal Restrike "COPY"
This is an excellent restrike by Spink & Son who made the original medal., 
as is the ribbon.  It carries the word "COPY" on the rim.
A "Royal Niger Copy Medal" refers to an official, well-made restrike of the rare Royal Niger Company's Medal. 
Because the original campaign medals are exceptionally scarce, the original manufacturer, 
Spink & Son of London, later re-struck a limited number of specimens using the original dies. 
To protect numismatic integrity, these official historical restrikes were explicitly stamped "COPY" on the rim.
