Original 1894 U.S. Government Printing Office photographic plate removed from the Eleventh Census (1890) report, Indians Taxed and Indians Not Taxed in the United States (Except Alaska).
This original photographic plate depicts a Sheepeater (Tukudeka) Bannock Indian family inside their summer tipi at the Lemhi Agency, Idaho. The image was photographed by W. H. Jackson, one of the best-known photographers of the American West, and published as part of the landmark federal census documenting Native American tribes and communities during the late nineteenth century.
