Original etching, by the listed artist and printmaker Richard Bawden RWS, RE, NEAC (1936 - 2024) created in 1978 in an edition of just 75 prints and exhibited that year at the Royal Academy.
Titled "Cold Morning" a tangled view looking through ivy leaves and pollarded branches to a frozen pond.
Signed in pencil lower right margin, titled and numbered 42/75 lower left margin.
An example of this etching was exhibited in the 1978 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, exhibit number 830.
Etching printed in two colours on handmade heavy wove paper. In a gilt wood frame with double mounts, glazed.
Print in excellent original condition, the sheet has some very light age toning in the margins (see photos). Frame with some slight nicks and scratches, mount clean (see photos).

Richard Bawden RWS, RE, NEAC 1936 – 2024
English painter, printmaker and designer.
Richard Bawden was born on 18th March 1936, son
of the well-known artist Edward Bawden CBE RA, and studied painting,
printmaking, and graphic design at Chelsea, St Martin's and the Royal College
of Art. He exhibited widely throughout his career and has work in public and
private collections including the Tate, the V&A, the Royal Collection, and
the Government Art Collection.
His work has a graphic, linear quality and a strong sense of
craftsmanship, which translates naturally into many forms. These have included
book illustration, murals for restaurants, engraved glass, church windows and
doors, a poster for London Transport, mosaics and furniture.
Bawden was a Council member of the Royal Watercolour Society
(RWS), an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), a
member of the New English Art Club (NEAC), and a former Chairman of the
Gainsborough House Print Workshop in Sudbury.
In later life he was based in Suffolk. Richard Bawden died
on 31 May 2024, at the age of 88.
