René Lalique Damiers Vase No. 10-886 Grey Patinated Frosted Glass c1935 Signed

An exceptional original René Lalique "Damiers" vase, designed in 1935 during the final years of René Lalique's celebrated Art Deco period. The name Damiers (French for "checkerboard") perfectly reflects the striking geometric relief of raised square panels that wrap around the vase, creating a beautifully balanced architectural design. This pattern is one of Lalique's finest geometric creations, showcasing the transition from naturalistic motifs to the bold modernism of the Art Deco era.

This example is executed in frosted glass with an attractive grey patina, highlighting the recessed areas of the design and providing superb contrast against the polished raised squares. The vase has a flared rim and tapered body, allowing light to pass through the textured surface and create a dramatic visual effect from every angle.

The underside is signed R. Lalique France, confirming its authenticity as an original René Lalique production.

Condition is very good overall. From the photos, the vase presents beautifully with no obvious chips or cracks visible. There are typical light surface scratches to the base consistent with age, use and shelf wear. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
