This is a chance to own a scarce, original, photographic stereoview dating to circa 1905. The image is by the celebrated photographer Herbert Ponting who is best known for his images of Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole. It came with a number of Ponting's personal images and effects and has his ink-stamp to the rear. This image was published by Underwood and Underwood and is titled 'A potter and his wheel, fashioning a vase of Awata porcelain - in the famous Kinkosan works, Kyoto, Japan.' It is one of a number of views of Japanese interest from the period around the Russo-Japanese war on offer this month and would make an excellent addition to any collection. Please do look at my other items as I will combine postal charges - please wait for or request combined invoice before paying. Condition

Please note that this item is approximately 110 years old and has been used. Overall it is in good condition but there may be light marks / fading / spotting consistent with age and usage. Please refer to the photographs and do not hesitate to email if you have any questions prior to bidding.
