A handsome Victorian coromandel vanity box dating to the mid to late 19th century, beautifully veneered in richly figured coromandel with rounded ebony-style moulded edges and brass campaign-style fittings.
The interior retains its original luxurious green crushed silk velvet-lined lid, removable fitted tray, folding leather writing wallet and hidden compartment beneath. The secret side drawer is also present.
Fitted with a desirable Bramah lock stamped “124 Piccadilly”, a respected London maker of high-security locks.
The box has been carefully cleaned and waxed, bringing out the spectacular grain of the coromandel veneer without over-restoration.
