Signed and dated '97 lower right, inscribed with the title lower left edge, below the mount.

Watercolour on card, in the original stained wood, gilt lined frame with double mount. 

Painting in excellent original condition, with strong, fresh colour (see photos), frame with some very slight nicks and scratches, mount clean (see photos).

British landscape and marine painter in watercolours.

John Sibson is a figurative a painter working from his studio in Appleby in Cumbria. He also publishes his own giclee reproductions. Better known for watercolours, but  he also works in acrylics and oils.

A well-established artist, over the years he has shown his work in numerous solo and shared exhibitions in galleries, mostly in the North of England, but also in Scotland and as far afield as Spain and New Zealand. He had exhibited at The Mall Galleries in London at the Royal Society of Marine Artists Open exhibitions and in the Houses of Parliament. He is a past prize winner in the Cumbria Open Artists exhibitions.

Residential development along the River Tyne in the 1990s marked the beginning of post-industrial regeneration, transforming former shipyards, docks, and warehouses into modern housing. This shift turned neglected brownfield sites on both the Newcastle and North Tyneside banks into riverside communities.
