An unusual antique brass hexagonal case dating to the late Victorian to Edwardian period (circa 1880-1920).

Beautifully engraved with a lovely aged patina, it has a hinged lid and a solid, quality feel.

The exact original purpose is unknown, but it may have been used as a lipstick holder, match safe, smelling salts case (vinaigrette), etui, or another small vanity or personal accessory. The original metal lining is still present inside, adding to its period charm.

The hinge works well and the lid opens and closes securely. It presents with with age-related wear and marks consistent with its age.
