Original 1898 Modern Woodmen of America Silk Ribbon – Osage Camp No. 250

Original nineteenth-century silk ribbon issued to Osage Camp No. 250 of the Modern Woodmen of America (M.W.A.), commemorating the 4th Annual Picnic of the Northern Iowa Picnic Association held in Charles City, Iowa on June 10, 1898.

The ribbon is printed in black on gold silk and features the official camp designation along with a decorative emblem incorporating scales and symbolic fraternal imagery. The original silk fringe remains intact at the bottom.

Osage Camp No. 250 was one of the early Iowa chapters of the Modern Woodmen of America, organized in 1886. The camp became well known locally for its Modern Woodmen Foresters drill team, whose precision marching and axe-drill exhibitions were a popular feature at civic celebrations and fraternal gatherings. The camp also worked closely with its ladies' auxiliary, the Royal Neighbors of America, making this an appealing piece of early Midwestern fraternal history.
