This is a spirit portal radio.

A Portable Battery Operated FM Sweep Radio with Regional Scan and Store function and Adjustable Volume and Reverb Control.

The scan button allows the device to scan for frequencies at whatever location you are investigating. It will store those stations and pulse through them. A popular piece of equipment which is used during many investigations, it has become a known tool for communicating with spirit.
