Signed and inscribed with the title lower left. 

This work can be dated to 1979 as the artist visited the city that year and dated another similar view.

John Barrie Haste 1931 -2011

British landscape painter, in oils and watercolours.

John Barrie Haste was a West-Riding of Yorkshire painter, who’s landscapes often featured locations in the county and further afield in several European countries, where he favoured Venice.

He was influenced by painters of the Norwich School, particularly Cotman and Turner, the two artists he admired most. Haste held many solo exhibitions across the country, was included in the touring "Britain in watercolour" exhibition and exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Institute of Painters in Watercolour.

His work is held in collections around the world including Newburgh Priory, Lord and Lady Deramore, Sir Donald Baron, Lady Bell, Sir Martin Beckett, Rowntree Mackintosh and the Yorkshire Bank.

The Kornschütte is an exhibition and event space in the Lucerne City Hall in Switzerland. The space is managed by the Real Estate and Culture & Sports departments of the City of Lucerne. Exhibitions from Lucerne's cultural life are organised about six times a year.

Town Hall Clock Lucerne. The town-hall of Lucerne on the Kornmarkt was built between 1602 and 1606 by the Italian architect Anton Isenmann from the Prismell region and is valued as a masterpiece of late Renaissance style. The tower of the town-hall is older and was erected in the High Middle Ages later serving as a dungeon and finally housing the town-hall clock.
