šŸš€ Dinky 358 Enterprise 1701‑A Glow In The Dark Refit Parts Kit • Unreleased The Motion Picture Version

This premium reproduction kit upgrades your vintage Dinky 358 USS Enterprise to the
sleek Star Trek: The Motion Picture 1701‑A refit — the version Dinky engineered in 1979–1980
but never released. These parts are designed specifically for the full‑size 358 die‑cast model,
not the Pocket Models (800‑series), which used different numbering and tooling.

This version has new blue with blue glow filament for the engine stripes. Charge under a bright lamp and see how cool they look in the dark!

✨ What’s Included

1701‑A Refit Pylons — precision‑fit replacements with correct TMP geometry
1701‑A Refit Nacelles — with glow in the dark blue TMP stripes
Metallic Blue Deflector Dish — movie‑accurate colour and profile

All components are produced in high‑quality materials and colour‑matched to the
1979–1980 TMP aesthetic.

šŸ“˜ Historical Background

In 1979, Dinky Toys began reworking their classic 358 USS Enterprise to match the
new refit starship seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This updated version featured
re‑profiled nacelles, revised pylons, and TMP‑era detailing. It appeared in the
1980 Dinky catalogue, but never reached production due to Meccano/Dinky’s bankruptcy.

Although some collectors mistakenly associate the refit with the 801/803 numbers,
those were Pocket Model SKUs only. The full‑size TMP Enterprise always remained
Dinky 358, as it was a direct modification of the original tooling.

This kit recreates the intended 1701‑A refit appearance, allowing collectors to
restore or complete the Enterprise that Dinky designed but never released.

šŸ› ļø Fitting Instructions (Important)

The new pylons are intentionally a snug, precision fit to ensure proper alignment
and stability once installed. Please follow these guidelines:

Unscrew the bottom of your Enterprise and lift from the back to remove the bottom section. Remove the old pylons
Insert pylons slowly at an angle with the front edge inserted first. Once the front is securely in place, press down hard on the back of the pylon block until it drops into place. Feel free to file or sand the back edge to obtain a good fit. A tiny amount of silicone‑safe lubricant can also help if needed.

Once seated, the pylons lock firmly and securely and will likely never move again! (unlike the originals)

Careful installation ensures a perfect, movie‑accurate stance.

Prototyping
This project took a large number of prototypes, to get a great fit and look for the pylons, as well as nacelles (to look a bit more like the movie), but still in keeping with the planned Dinky design. It comes assembled from over a dozen parts. You will receive it in 2 pieces, the assembled nacelles and pylons and the deflector dish.
