📘 Historical Background

In 1979, Dinky Toys began reworking their classic 358 USS Enterprise to match the
new refit starship seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This updated version featured
re‑profiled nacelles, revised pylons, and TMP‑era detailing. It appeared in the
1980 Dinky catalogue, but never reached production due to Meccano/Dinky’s bankruptcy.

Although some collectors mistakenly associate the refit with the 801/803 numbers,
those were Pocket Model SKUs only. The full‑size TMP Enterprise always remained
Dinky 358, as it was a direct modification of the original tooling.

This kit recreates the intended 1701‑A refit appearance, allowing collectors to
restore or complete the Enterprise that Dinky designed but never released.



🛠️ Fitting Instructions (Important)

The new pylons are intentionally a snug, precision fit to ensure proper alignment
and stability once installed. Please follow these guidelines:


Unscrew the bottom of your Enterprise and lift from the back to remove the bottom section. Remove the old pylons
Insert pylons slowly at an angle with the front edge inserted first. Once the front is securely in place, press down hard on the back of the pylon block until it drops into place. Feel free to file or sand the back edge to obtain a good fit. A tiny amount of silicone‑safe lubricant can also help if needed.
