The CE 24 has always been the PRS for players who like a little extra snap under their fingertips. By pairing a bolt on maple neck with the classic maple over mahogany recipe, it keeps everything people love about PRS while adding a quicker attack and a little more bite. I think it's one of the most versatile guitars PRS has ever built.

This one received the Sprayer's Choice treatment, where the PRS finish artist is given complete creative freedom to step outside the standard catalogue and create something unique. Personally, I love this finish. From straight on it reads as a rich metallic purple, but walk around it and the gold sparkle slowly starts to wake up. It isn't loud for the sake of being loud. The gold almost sneaks up on you, and once you notice it, it's hard to stop tilting the guitar just to see what it does next.

I also think PRS made the right call with the back. Instead of trying to compete with the top, they left the mahogany natural. The warm brown wood against all that sparkle creates such a nice contrast, and to me it gives the guitar a bit more class than if they had sprayed the whole thing. Sometimes knowing when to stop is the difference between good and great.

Underneath the custom finish is everything that has made the CE 24 one of PRS's longest running favourites. The 85/15 pickups cover everything from sparkling cleans to saturated lead tones with ease, while the bolt on maple neck, PRS tremolo, and locking tuners make it an effortless player's guitar. The finish might be what gets people walking over to it, but I think the way it plays is why they end up taking it home.
