Why Collectors Want the 16700
The 16700 is widely regarded as the last “true” GMT‑Master, offering vintage charm with modern reliability. The Rolex GMT‑Master 16700 was launched in 1988 as the successor to the reference 16750 and remained in production until 1999, overlapping for more than a decade with the newer GMT‑Master II 16710.
The Last “Original” GMT‑Master: Collectors regard the 16700 as the final true GMT‑Master, as it uses the Caliber 3175 movement where the 24‑hour hand is synchronized with the main hour hand. This contrasts with the GMT‑Master II, which introduced independently adjustable hour hands for dual‑time functionality.
