Rare, pre-1850, Alex Mathieson Glasgow, Ebony & Brass, Raised-Tube Spirit Level 11 5/8" (A1436)
Early Mathieson Mark, pre-Mathieson & Sons, circa 1820-1850.
Some signs of age. Has general knocks and dinks. The vial has been replaced at some point and there is slight gapping between the base and the brass top. The ebony base has been stamped at both ends by a previous owner and this has caused to vertical cracks to develop - these have been wax filled and don't affect the function of the level (see photos). The top has been engraved by a previous owner and has some marks, see photos.
Condition is used, signs of age, some minor damage - refer to photos and condition description.
