Antique Parke, Davis & Co. Oleoresin Aspidii U.S.P. (Oleoresin of Male Fern) Original Wrapped Pharmaceutical Package

Offered is an original early 20th-century pharmaceutical package for Oleoresin Aspidii U.S.P. (Oleoresin of Male Fern) manufactured by the renowned Parke, Davis & Co., Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.

This one-ounce pharmaceutical package retains its original waxed paper overwrap and appears to retain its original contents. The printed label remains visible beneath the protective wrapper and identifies the preparation as an official United States Pharmacopeia medicine.

Oleoresin of Male Fern was historically prescribed as a vermifuge for the treatment of tapeworm infections, making this an excellent survivor from the early days of American pharmaceutical manufacturing. Original wrapped examples such as this are increasingly difficult to find and display beautifully alongside antique apothecary bottles and medical advertising.
