Squadron Leader Gleave commanded No.253 Squadron from 2nd June 1940 at RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey
He was shot down and grievously burned on the 31st August 1940 whilst defending RAF Biggin Hill.
Commanded RAF Manston October 5th 1941 to April 1942.
The information card included with the cover gives more details on this incredibly brave man
