High Wycombe,the wartime Headquarters of Bomber Command where
"Operation Millennium" was planned and carried out.

Group Captain Thomas Gilbert 'Hamish' Mahaddie DSO DFC AFC
Hamish Mahaddie joined the Royal Air Force in 1928, in the early 30's he trained as a
Sergeant Pilot and was posted to No.35 Squadron in Baghdad.

In 1942 he was selected for the Pathfinders and joined No.7 Squadron as Flight Commander and completed a tour as one of the founder members of the Pathfinders. He was later given command of RAF Warboys the PFF training unit. In Feb 1943 he was awarded the DSO DFC AFC and Czech MC. Post-war he followed a career in the RAF and introduced the Canberra to Bomber Command. He retired in 1959 and was a aviation consultant.
