Hand carved Greek wooden model
from Año Vathi, Samos Island
This rare, hand carved wooden seals comes from the Greek Orthodox tradition and became a blessing and character holy bread (prosphoron) used. Before baking, the stamp is pressed into the dough to create the sacred symbols for the liturgy - a central ritual in the Byzantine and Orthodox churches.
The piece originally comes from Año Vathi on Samos, a region with a long religious and craft tradition. An authentic object for collectors of religious folk art, those interested in liturgy or lovers of historical wood carving.
