About the Artwork
Mira draws on Peter Max's frequently revisited vase-of-flowers compositions, with a large vase grounded at the base of the image, an oversized central bloom, and a surrounding burst of smaller flowers. He follows that broad structure closely while developing the bouquet through his own arrangement of color, shape, and movement.
The rich purple background gives the bouquet a more dramatic setting than a conventional floral still life. Strong contrasts between the dark blue vase and the brighter blossoms create a vivid Pop Art presence, while the expressive brushwork keeps the composition active throughout.
Painted directly on a gesso-prepared canvas panel with premium lightfast acrylic paint, the piece is hand-signed “Mira” on the front and finished with a UV-protective varnish.

Juan Mira's style traces back to a childhood surrounded by Peter Max's imagery, an influence that has remained with him throughout his career. He often works with themes associated with Max, including umbrella figures, sunsets, hearts, flags, and flowers, then develops them through his own compositions and characters.
