*** Kanbun  (寛文) was a Japanese era name (年号 nengō, "year name")

 

・寿命 Jyumyo, means longevity, therefore, the swords with this signature

were very popular not only the works of this swordsmith but also

the name, 寿命 Jyumyo.  Often used his swords as congratulatory gifts

to Samurai family.

 

・鞘書 Sayagaki :  白鞘  shirasaya contains an appraisal by 備山 Bizan ,

a sword connoisseur.

備山 Bizan described this seems to be made by 寿命 Jyumyo .

 

備山 Bizan is the pseudonym of 佐藤 (Sato Hitoshi), the director of

JASMK (倉敷刀剣美術館 Japanese Art Sword Museum of Kurashiki) .

There are some scratches due to in and out from the scabbard.

There are some kitae-kizu with age appropriate.

Important Notes When Shipping Swords from Japan to the United States.

Due to current customs issues, Japan Post's EMS service has suspended

shipments of items valued at $100 or more.

Therefore, you may either wait for EMS service to resume or ship via UPS.

Standard UPS does not allow shipping swords from Japan, but we have passed

UPS's hazardous materials handling review and can legally ship swords to the

United States.

Shipping costs are currently set for EMS. If you prefer UPS shipping, we will

charge the difference.

We plan to use DDP for shipments to the US, but due to uncertainties,

<The Procedure of sending Japanese swords abroad-It takes additional time!>

·         All our swords with hand forged blade are registered in the Agency for Cultural Affairs as artwork and The Board of Education(Cultural properties protection Committee); therefore each sword has the registration card, issued by the Board of Education.

·         After receiving the full payment of the items, we return the registration card and get the permission from Ministry of Cultural Affairs to export the swords legally from Japan.   It will take about 14-17 business days to do this procedure.  

·         After the receiving the permission, we will inform you by email and send the items immediately.

 

Important Notice:

·         We are not responsible for the problem of custom or post office.  As some countries are not allowed to import swords, because they might be considered swords as weapons.  Please confirm whether your country can import Japanese antique swords and antique goods before bidding/ buying.  We cannot refund the money due to this problem.
